David Colin SCHOFIELD died on 19 November 1967, aged 22, as the result of a skydiving accident.

A 27-year-old New Zealander killed skydiving at Rockingham, near Perth, yesterday, was named today by Masterton police.

He was David Colin Voss,   aged 27, single, a shearer, who was staying with friends in View Terrace, East Fremantle. His parents, Mr and Mrs R. M. Voss, live in High Street, Masterton.

Mr Voss died after a midair collision with another skydiver, who escaped with minor injuries.

About 20 young persons saw him plunge to the ground, wrapped in his parachute.  It was the first fatal sky-diving accident in Western Australia.

Rockingham police said three members of the Rockingham Sky-Divers (Inc.), jumped simultaneously from a Cessna 182 light aircraft.  Mr Voss opened his parachute early and the other divers hit it, dragging it below him.

Mr Voss then tangled with it and dropped at about 100 miles an hour in scrub country wrapped in the parachute.
