Our Whakataki correspondent writes: The Rev. J. H. Sykes passed through Whakataki to-day (Friday) en route for Castlepoint, to solennise the marriage of Mr George Oliver, to Mary, daughter of Mr Southey, of the Castle-Point Station. A dance was held in the evening.

Mr Sykes met with an accident that happily had no serious consequences. The wheels of his buggy plunging into a deep rut near the beach, Mr Sykes was thrown violently out, and the horses made a bolt. Happily Mr Harvey was at hand and assisted to set things right, and Mr Sykes was able to proceed on his way without much delay.
