Annual Meeting of Parishioners Tinui Hall May 20th 1919


Present

Vicar in Chair, the Wardens & very few parishioners.


Minutes

Minutes of the last annual meeting were read & confirmed.


Correspondence

The Bishop wrote inviting the co-operation of the Vestry to help with the Archdeacon Fancourt Memorial Fund.  Left in hands of Vicar.

Diocesan Secretary wrote drawing attention to the increased cost of living & asked if the vestry were prepared to increase the assessment to Stipend.  Left in hands of incoming Vestry.


Balance Sheet

Mr E. F. Jennings read the annual Balance sheet which was adopted on motion of Mr A. T. Hancock seconded by Mr T. Cripps.


Officers

The Vicar held over his appointment of a warden & subsequently appointed Mr T. Cripps.  Mr D. Speedy moved & Mr T. Cripps seconded that Mr A. T. Hancock be Parishioners' Warden. (Carried)

The following was elected -

Messrs A. Cameron, T Dillon, S. Holdsworth, H. Groves, H. B. Maunsell, G. Moore, H. Morrison, H. A. Nevins, D. H. Speedy, A. Speedy.


Sec & Treasurer

Mr T. Cripps moved & Mr Sutton seconded that Mr A. Schofield be elected Sec. & Treasurer.  (Carried)


Auditor

Mr H. H. Ryder moved & Mr T. Cripps seconded that Mr E. H. Schofield be elected Auditor.  (Carried).


Amalgamation

Proposed Vicar Sec Mr H. Ryder that the two sub-districts be constituted as one. (Carried)


Vicar of Masterton

Proposed vicar sec. Mr T. Cripps that a letter of thanks be sent to the Vicar of Masterton for services rendered during the past three years.  (Carried)


Ladies

Proposed Vicar Sec. Mr A. T. Hancock that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the ladies of the parish who have assisted in the work. (Carried)


Insurance of clergy

Proposed Mr A. Hancock, sec. Mr T. Cripps that a new policy be taken out for the Vicar (Carried)


Condolence

The Vicar moved that this parish meeting extends its sympathy to all members who suffered loss in the late epidemic, & that it places on record its thankfulness for the self sacrifice shown by those who assisted their fellows. this was seconded by Mr D. H. Speedy & carried, all standing in silence.

On motion of Mr Cripps seconded by Mr Hancock the Vicar, Mr D. Speedy & Mr Sutton were appointed a committee to do all urgent repairs at the vicarage & to report to next meeting of vestry what further alterations were necessary.


Stipend

Mr Ryder moved that the Vicar be paid ½ year's stipend during absence at the front. The Vicar pointed out that the Diocesan Synod had requested all parishes to try to reach a minimum stipend of ₤250 & that he would prefer the balance of stipend fund be used to raise the stipend to this minimum. Mr Ryder altered his motion accordingly & moved that the incoming vestry be asked to consider the possibility of raising the stipend to ₤250 per annum.

Seconded by Mr D. H. Speedy & carried.
