Annual Meeting

Annual meeting of Parishioners held in the Vicarage on 22/5/[19]18 – on a showery day


Present

Messrs R. E. Maunsell (Chair), H. A. Nevins, D.H. Speedy, E.F. Jennings & A. T. Hancock.

Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A.J. Speedy & G. Groves.


Minutes of last meeting  were confirmed as read on motion of E. F. Jennings and by Nevins.


Correspondence received from the Bishop appointed Mr R. E. Maunsell as Vicar's Warden;
from Rev. Walker acknowledging receipt of ₤10-0-0 in recognition of his & his Curate's services to the District for year ending April 1917.

[Section crossed out in pencil regarding non-payment of subscriptions by some parishioners.]


It was decided that motion passed at last meeting re payments to Masterton Vicar from offertory funds be rescinded.  (Carried.)

It was agreed that the sum of ₤18-0-0 shown in Balance be sent to Rev. Walker in recognition of his Curate's services to the District during the year ended April 1918.

Propd. Mr Jennings secd. Mr Speedy that payments to the Masterton be paid out of the Stipend fund.  (Carried.)

The Balance Sheet was adopted as read on motion of Mr Nevin secd. by Hancock.

Propd. Mr Maunsell secd. Mr Nevins that a hearty vote of thanks be to Mr Jennings for his services as Treasr. during the year and that the sum of ₤5-0-0 be voted to him.  (Carried.)

Mr. Jennings agreed to accept the amount and said he would donate it to the Vicarage improvement fund.


Propd. Mr Nevins secd. Mr Maunsell that A. T. Hancock be appointed People's Warden.

Propd. Mr Speedy secd. Mr Nevins that Messrs Nevins, D. & A. Speedy, Sutton, Jennings, Bennett, T. Dillon, G. Groves, W. F. Bartholemew, H. French & A. A. Cameron be appointed Vestrymen.

Propd. Mr Speedy secd. Mr Nevins that Mr E. F. Jennings be appointed Treas.

Propd. Mr Maunsell secd. Mr Speedy that Mr E. H. Schofield be appointed auditor.


The People's Warden was directed to convey to the Vicar the best wishes of the Parishioners and hoped he would have a speedy & safe return to the District and to send a copy of the minutes of the Parishioners' meeting.

Votes of thanks were accorded to Mrs Langdon (organist), Mrs Perry, Sunday School teacher, & to Mrs A. A. Schofield, the Misses Speedy (2) Perry & M. A. Hancock for their kindness in cleaning the Church.
