A wedding of considerable local interest was celebrated at the Church of the Good Shepherd at Tinui on Wednesday, July 9th, when Ella Laura, youngest daughter of Mrs. Schofield, "The Triangle," was married married to Leslie Douglas, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Cameron, "Te Paraetai." The bride was attended by the sister of the bridegroom, Miss Margaret Cameron and Grace Barnes (cousin of the bride). Two small nieces of the bride, Una Schofield and Ruby Schofield, acted as flower girls. Mr Walter Laing supported the bridegroom as best man.
The bride was given away by her brother, Mr Ernest Schofield, and looked charming in white brocaded crepe de chine, trimmed with silver lace and pearls. She wore a hand-embroidered veil in the style of a Dutch bonnet and carried a bouquet of lily of the valley, maidenhair fern, and cyclamen.
Miss Currie, at the organ, played a wedding march at the conclusion of the ceremony, which was conducted by the Rev. B. D. Ashcroft. A reception was afterwards held in Tinui Hall, when about 100 guests honoured the usual toasts.
