Church building committee - 1901
It seems the first meeting to plan for an Anglican church in Tinui was held during 1901. The minutes are undated.
Minutes of meeting held in the Public hall for the purpose of considering ways and means of building a Church of England in Te Nui.
Present
Revd. J. H. Sykes (Chairman), Mesdames J. Groves & Hancock, Messrs F. Brading, J. & F W. Groves, D. & A. Speedy, J. A. Perry & A. T. Hancock.
It was decided that those present be appointed a Committee with power to add to their number.
Propd. Mr J. Groves Secd. Mr D. H. Speedy that A. T. Hancock be appointed Secretary. (Carried)
Mesdames McHutchon [McHutcheon], Brading, R. Langdon, & Nevins, and the Messrs Barnes, Stilborn, Kean, Belliss, & Schofield, Messrs McHutchon, R. E. Maunsell, Nevills & H. H S. Ryder were appointed members of Committee subject to their approval.

[next page] have decided to engage Mr Gawith to draw out deed for transfer of the Site for Church. (Carried)
Propt Mr. Maunsell Secd. Mr Speedy that Mr. Sykes show the Plans &c of Church to Messrs Daniels & Coradine & Whittaker asking them what price they would supply all materials and cartage and put up the Church for according to the specification. (Carried)
It was agreed that Mr Nevins canvas Annedale & Manawa, Mr. Speedy from Mr Dickens house to Flag Creek and Mr. Sykes to canvas or arrange for the rest of the District for the Church Building Funds.
It was decided that the next meeting be held on Saturday 21st August at 3 P.M.
