Annual General Meeting

27 April 1903 

Minutes of Parishioners Annual Meeting held in the Church of the Good Shepherd 27/4/05


Present

Revd. Sykes (Chairman) Messrs Brading, Maunsell, Nevins, Perry, F. W. Groves & Hancock.

Minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.

Correspondence received from St. Matthews Vestry (dated 27/4/04) enclosing cheque value ₤9-0-0 on a/c of the Annedale subscription a/c.

from the Bishop of Wellington re the election of Synodsmen for the ensuing term.

The Vicar read his report for the Church work for the past year.

The Treasurer Balance Sheet was read showing a credit balance of ₤24-1-2 for the year ending March 1903.

Propd. Mr. Maunsell Secd. Mr Perry that a/cs for Hymn and Prayer Books, hand basin & stand amounting to 50/- be passed for payment.  (Carried)

Propd. Mr Nevins Secd. Mr. Maunsell that the ₤20-0-0 Garden fete fund a/c be placed out at interest this account to be a nucleus for purchasing either land or a house and land for a Vicarage. (Carried)

Propd. Mr Sykes Secd. Mr Maunsell that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded the Churchwardens, Messrs D. Speedy and Tatham also all others who have so kindly assisted in Church matters during the past year.  (Carried)

Mr. Sykes re appointed Mr. Brading Vicar's Warden for the ensuing year.

Propd Mr. Maunsell Secd. Mr. Groves that Mr. Hancock be elected Parishioners warden for the ensuing year (carried)

Mr D. H. Speedy was re-elected Treasurer for the ensuing year.

The following were elected a Vestry for the ensuing year Messrs R. E. Maunsell, H. A. Nevins, J. & F. W. Groves, D.H. Speedy, Perry McHutcheon, H. Morrison & Tatham.

Propd. Mr. Maunsell Secd. Mr. Perry that Mr H. A. Nevins be elected Synodsman for the ensuing three years. (Carried).

Propd. Mr Perry Secd. Mr Brading that 150 Copies of the Balance Sheet be printed and circulated throughout the District.  (carried)

Propd. Hancock Secd. Mr Groves that Mr. Sutton be reappointed Auditor for the ensuing year.  (Carried)

Propd. Mr. Nevins Secd. Mr Groves that Messrs McHutcheon, Perry & Hancock be requested to inspect Mrs Nicholl's house with a view of purchasing same and to report at a future meeting.  (Carried.

TENUI NOTES

The annual meeting of parishioners of the Tenui Anglican Church, was held in the Church, on Tuesday last, at 8 o’clock, the Rev. J.H. Sykes, Vicar, presiding.

After the minutes of last meeting and correspondence had been read, the Vicar read his annual address, which will be published later on. The financial report showed a balance of ₤35, on the debit side, and it is earnestly hoped that a strong effort will be made to rectify this at an early date.

The election of officers resulted as follows: Vicar’s warden, Mr Frank Brading; people’s warden, A.T. Hancock; vestry, Messrs John Groves, J. Perry, F.W. Groves, D.H. Speedy, A. Speedy, H.H. Ryder, Robt. Langdon, R.E. Maunsell, A. McHutchon for Whakataki, H. Morrison (for Whareama), J.H. Tatham (for Homewood) and H.A. Nevins. 

Hearty votes of thanks were unanimously passed to Mrs James Langdon for her efforts in raising the Organ Fund, and to Mrs Elder (England), for gift of Communion Plate.
